The Story

Elliottis Pine Plywood C+C grade is a robust, exterior-bonded softwood panel built for structural and general-purpose site work. Available in 12mm and 18mm thicknesses and measuring 2440mm x 1220mm, it carries EN314-compliant adhesive bonding and suits a wide range of load-bearing and semi-exposed applications.

Specifications

Property Detail
Material Elliottis Pine (softwood plywood)
Grade C+C (both faces C-grade - knots, natural characteristics and repairs visible)
Bonding Standard EN314 exterior-grade adhesive
Sheet Size 2440mm x 1220mm (approx 8ft x 4ft)
Thickness Options 12mm (approx 1/2 inch), 18mm (approx 3/4 inch)
Finish Unsanded, workhorse faces
Use Class Suitable for humid conditions and intermittent moisture exposure

What it's used for

  • Roof decking and sarking where a reliable, structural sheet is required beneath felt or membrane
  • Site hoarding, temporary shuttering and formwork on construction projects
  • Flooring substrate and sub-floor build-up in domestic and commercial settings
  • Semi-exposed outbuilding and shed construction where moisture resistance matters but an appearance grade is not needed

Fitting and handling

Store sheets flat on a level surface and keep them dry before installation - standing sheets on edge or leaving them exposed to wet conditions before fixing can cause bowing across the width. When laying as roof decking or flooring, leave a 2-3mm expansion gap at all sheet edges and fix at no more than 150mm centres into supports using ring-shank nails or coarse-thread screws for reliable holding. If the panel will face any ongoing moisture exposure once fitted, treat all cut edges with a compatible exterior timber preservative or end-grain sealer before closing in.

FAQ

What does C+C grade mean on plywood?

C+C means both the face and back veneer are C-grade. You can expect open knots up to a certain size, splits, discolouration and filled or unfilled repairs. It is a structural, general-purpose classification - perfectly fit for roofing, flooring and hoarding where appearance is not a factor.

Is Elliottis Pine Plywood suitable for outdoor or exterior use?

This board uses EN314 exterior-grade bonding, which means the glue lines resist delamination in humid and intermittently wet conditions. The panel is suitable for semi-exposed applications such as roof decking under a covering or treated outbuilding walls. It is not rated for fully exposed, permanent weathering without an additional surface treatment or cladding overlay.

What is the difference between 12mm and 18mm for flooring?

For a flooring substrate laid over joists spaced at 400mm centres or closer, 18mm is the standard choice and gives better stiffness and load-bearing capacity underfoot. The 12mm sheet is more suited to secondary or overlay applications, roof decking on close-spaced rafters, or situations where overall build-up depth needs to be minimised.
